Reaching out to a qualified and diverse pool of candidates is a common goal of most employers whom I speak with. As I mentioned in my last post, the population of our country is rapidly changing. Reaching out to a diverse pool of candidates will likely become more critical for businesses in the future to ensure that they can take full advantage of this segment of our population.

We all know that once you actually get an interview set up, you are 50% there. They have noticed your resume in a growing stack of them and that is a very good thing! You can say that the ball is in your court at this point. All you have to do is walk in there and sell yourself. That, of course, is easier said than done. In this economy, they are going to put you through the marathon interview process. You might walk in there and have 8 consecutive interviews to grind through – this is now the norm. They want to grill you from every direction – why were you laid off from your last job or how did you do in college? You have to try harder every step of the way through this grueling process. You might lose sleep over it the night before but once you are in the thick of the interviews, sleep loss will not be a factor because the adrenaline rush will take over. Read more…

No wonder so many were in attendance at a seminar on Monday sponsored by the HR consulting firm Gaucher and Associates in Franklin, MA.
