Most employers devote only a portion of their corporate website for careers, and are limited to leveraging best in class search and social marketing to effectively bring their job openings to the job seekers. So, it makes sense for a company with the URL ‘ourcompany.com’ to also buy a domain called ‘ourcompany.jobs’ to build a recruitment site to attract job seekers by using state-of-the-art search and social media. This should help individual companies market their jobs better, and hopefully job seekers will also have a better time searching for relevant jobs instead of going through each company’s main websites. At America’s Job Exchange, we know that hiring qualified candidates with disabilities is an important responsibility of employers. Last month, the United States Department of Labor unveiled a new tool, the online Disability Nondiscrimination Law Advisor, which will help employers quickly and easily determine their responsibilities under the federal disability nondiscrimination laws that apply to their business. This online tool asks users to answer a few relevant questions about variables such as the size of their organization and whether they receive federal financial assistance. Based on these responses, the advisor generates a customized list of federal disability nondiscrimination laws that would apply, as well as information about employers’ responsibilities under them.
