On June 6-8, the Southeast Industry Liaison Group (SE ILG) held its first regional conference at the Omni Hotel City Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. By all measures the conference was a great success, drawing well over 100 attendees and delivering an entertaining and education-filled agenda. America’s Job Exchange (AJE) was proud to contribute to that success as a Gold Sponsor. The SE ILG conference represented our first real opportunity to meet with southeast recruiters face-to-face, and we wanted to make the most of it. It didn’t take us long to make new friends in the land of southern hospitality.

Conference buzz started on the first day during pre-workshops, including the general session attended by members of regional OFCCP Director Evelyn Teague’s staff. An early pre-workshop also featured Beth Ronnenburg, president of Berkshire Associates, an AJE partner. In a highly interactive session, Beth shed light on the many gray areas of handling an OFCCP audit, answering questions submitted by the audience using a live interactive poll. Later in the program, the SEILG conference team held a moment of silence in honor of Berkshire’s founder Dawn Stauffer Hyde, who passed away in May of this year. The attendance of the OFCCP regional director’s team along with a number of engaging sessions on the topic of OFCCP compliance made for many productive conversations in the AJE booth.

As I mentioned, it was a first opportunity to meet with southeast recruiters and Federal contractors outside of our current clients. Many were pleased to learn that AJE has successfully carried forward the mission that began with the Department of Labor’s America’s Job Bank. We are excited at the possibility of carrying forward with a few new relationships thanks to the work of the SE ILG conference team. With that said, America’s Job Exchange would like to congratulate the entire SE ILG team on a successful inaugural conference. We look forward to our next visit to an SE ILG event! We would also like to congratulate Phyllis Calhoun from Home Depot, who won our booth raffle for a new iPad. Next up, the America’s Job Exchange team visits SHRM in Atlanta later this month.
